The Department of History was founded in 1411/1412 H Faculty of Arts for Girls in Abha and the purpose of establishing the department:
The preparation of a generation of graduates and researchers and aware of the history of their ancient Islamic and civilized role, which contributed to the building of human civilization in various sciences and arts and the pursuit of professional development of members of the academic and technical staff and to communicate with the community through the holding of seminars and Conferences to help solve problems and solve the need of the labor market in society.
